I wouldn't use Waeco - but I would recommend Victron.
A great piece of kit

I use Merlin 2kw pure sine with remote operation switch and well happy with it, I wanted one with studs for the 12volts rather than fixed leads so I could put chunky cables on lugs.

We have an older Waeco (before Dometic took them over) and it has performed faultlessly. We had a Victron Combi in our narrowboat which faulted and had to be sent back to Holland for repair. Fortunately for us, it was lost in transit and Victron provided us with a brand better specced new replacement.

We avoid Sterling products as we had had one of their boxes in our narrowboat which used to fool our slow revving Lister engine (via a 190amp Leece Neville alternator) to charge a large battery bank quicker. The Sterling box very nearly caused a fire in our engine room. Lots of inverter tales of woe threads on Narrowboat forums.

Victron, Sterling and Waeco have a good reputation. I have had a small Sterling PSW inverter for about 9 years and it is good.

Another vote for Victron, their combined Inverter/chargers have given me good service over many years and are highly configurable.

I have never found the need for a pure sine wave inverter.

Hairdryer, Straighteners (wife), Remoska, Slow Cooker occasionally whilst travelling, toaster, microwave, mains DAB radio and faster charge ups for phones laptops, Pads etc.

But apart from that?

On our narrowboat we had all mains appliances run by the Victron 3000 Combi and supported by a Whispergen PPS. This included a Zanussi Studio washing machine and separate fridge and freezer.

Sterling refurb a lot of their products, which presumably have faulted, and then re sell them with only a 30 day warranty. Would hate to think Id shelled out £450 for an inverter that went pop after 30 days.

None of those, except the microwave and maybe the electronic stuff really need pure wave. And we find that all our electronic stuff (phones, tablet, ipad, laptop, camera, razor) all charge just as quickly with the correct 12V adaptor. We do have a non pure sine wave inverter but we only us it for my wife's hairdryer.

Don't know about yours, but our hairdryers, Remoska, slow cooker etc etc will only run on 240V AC - pure sine or otherwise.(y)

Really - have you tried any of these on a standard inverter. Must be some seriously sophisticated hair appliance's

Im bald mate but my wifes hair appliances run perfectly well from our Waeco 1800W inverter.

What do you class as a 'standard inverter' ? They're either pure sine or quasi sine wave.

7 years followed by a break of 11 years and then 4+ years but given up now
I had a Waeco 1500 watt PSW inverter on our former boat. For 3 or 4 years it was turned on 24 hours a day for 3 or 4 months at a time (we had a mains deep freeze on board) and never had any problems at all. It had settings for very low consumption for times when no power was wanted. Good bit of kit.

Yes, of course they do, and I never suggested otherwise. They do need an inverter for that, but they do not need a pure sine wave inverter. As I said my much cheaper non-sine wave inverter works fine with the hairdryer.

The electronic stuff does not run off 240V AC. Internally they use anything from 5VDC for USB powered products to 18 - 22V DC for laptops. I used to have an Acer Android tablet that wanted 15V, but I now use a Microsoft surface pro, which can be used as both tablet and laptop. That uses 12V, which is the lowest voltage I have ever seen for a Windows based product.

Quasi sine wave.
They are much cheaper and work with 90% of 240v motor home appliances, in fact in 20+ years I have only had one appliance fail to work.
A cheap microwave.

The only thing I've found that will not work with a modified square wave inverter is the charger for our toothbrushes (Braun). I have the lowest power PSW one I could find on fleabay which is 300w permanently wired to the shaver socket in the washroom. The toothbrush charger is 1watt!

I think these toothbrushes use something called inductive charging (may have got that term wrong). The same as some phones use to charge, including my Nexus.

I have never been able to find a 12V charger for our oral B toothbrush, which I think is the Braun one. They should exist because I can charge my phone using a USB adaptor off the 12V. However, the problem is easy to solve, which is to buy a battery operated one for well under a tenner like this one. They use two AA batteries and you can either use disposable ones or get some rechargeable ones along with a 12V battery charger for them.

I got so fed up with the batteries on our £100+ all singing and dancing Oral B model packing up after 3 or 4 years (happened twice) I now use the same model in the bathroom at home. Much cheaper, even if you have to throw them away after a few months.
