2010?
Anyone heard of this or had this done from their dealer
Negative and positives would be good as it's not cheap
Thanks in advance

I think you may have to explain a bit more about what the kit is and how it works in order to get helpful comments. From your description, I cannot be certain what system you are referring to. For example, is it some compound that is injected into the tyres, or a mechanical device to prevent tyre-shedding?

I had this stuff https://www.puncturesafe.com t in one of my vans a few years ago, came out to the house to do it, i think it cost about £20 a wheel. Tyre fitters don't like it apparently, if they need to change the tyre, i had no problems with it.

Hi.
There are Funster on here who "Do" Tyres, they will be able to tell you the for's and against. For my two pennies worth, from what i understand, once this stuff is in the tyre, they can no longer be Vulcanised ?,so ,instead of a repair, its a new tyre. Looking forward to proper advice now, like yourself. Not that i would use it.

Is that new to you, or brand new?

Suppliers have to provide the road tax on new vehicles, most will fill your first tank for you, the jury seems to be out regarding puncture safe

I suppose it is more a case of new to you, in which case it sounds pretty much break even

I had puncture safe type stuff in last tyres done about 10 years ago just after we bought the Moho. It was then we found out they hadn't supplied a spare. The dealer (who happened to be on site at the show) said he'd supply repair type gunky stuff. I insisted on the proper spare (as there is a fitting for one and should have been on). Did have a flat in France about 4 years ago and told fitters the stuff was inside. It's not a problem if you tell them. Anyway, no other problems but just had new set of tyres all round and decided against having puncture safe type stuff in.

I've used puncture proof on all my vehicles for the last 15 year. Just do it myself as it's very simply. Last car cost £34 for the liquid and the motorhome was £42. Never had a puncture but on two occasions discovered nails in the tyre. Tyres stay cooler and the pressures remain stable.

I believe a dealer has to by law provide a warranty so shouldn't be charging you again for it.

Is it a physical thing like a liquid or a warranty type thing if you get a puncture ? Lookers were trying to sell the son's girlfriend the warranty thing for punctures when she bought her Tiguan.

They do, but this is an "extended" warranty.

Sounds like the dealer is trying to upsell, and isn't offering especially good terms

What he says. I've used it for the last 10 years ( not in the same tyres of course) and no punctures that I know about. Anything so major that the puncturesafe can't deal with would need a new tyre anyway. When the tyres need changing I always warn the fitter. As long as they wait till all the airs out before pushing the tyre off the rim it's ok. Failing to do so may pebbledash the workshop and its inhabitants and may lead to a loss of popularity. :D

It would be interesting to know if it interferes with TPMS. I know that 'slime' gunks up cycle valves. Anyone know ?

With us travelling down to Benidorm regularly I installed the puncture safe in my trailer and van tyres for peace of mind.

I had one of my transmitters indicate a flat when it wasn't. It only happened once and just needed the inside of the transmitter cleaning out. The answer is that it can interfere but usually doesn't.

Had ours done at the Lincoln show last year, also put some in our push bike tyers which I bought at Halfords. Putting the liquid in the push bike was recommended to me by my brother in law who was sick of getting punctures while away he's not had any problems since.

How did you clean the inside of the transmitter?

Had it on previous MH and was injected at one of the Warner shows, no problems encountered. I now have Tyre Pal on current van and they advise not suitable for vehicles with 'gunk' injected.

Bit of kitchen roll dampened with meths. As I said its only happened once, the tyre valves are a fair bit away from the periphery of the tyre so the gunk is not likely to get in there. Tyrepal have to cover themselves though, hence the instruction not to use.
