Hi there, our first winter and need some fairly swift advice on protecting our motorhome over the winter when it's sat on the drive and a frost hits. We are using it almost every weekend but it's just. Oat £100 to replace a tap and don't want to make that mist are again. So advice on draining down etc between uses over the winter would be appreciated. Hubby outside as we speak as brought it back today and almost forgot again

I alway hook it up with a small oil heater on a tray(in case oil leak ) set to come on around 10/12C when park up at home in winter with cupboard. Door open where Truman heater is located never border to empty any thing no problem so far. Oh with 12v switch off.
Did read somewhere that permanent hook up might damage batteries but mail manufacture of batteries and maker of van Both ok it.
Oop just reread your post above not whatnu ask and slightly different van, may be my way do not apply to your set up hope someone will come along with a proper info

::bigsmile:Hi,We always drain down, empty the heater system taps on water all out, then we have a small halogen low watt,on all the time to keep it above freezing, also silver outside screens to keep heat in,we use ours most weeks, but you cannot be too carefull, expensive if it gets frozen up,we also put shutters over all windows, empty cassette, hope this helps as we have had some very extreme weather and never had a problem, also drain the waste tank, regards H

Hi, We drain down water system and toilet for the winter (the worst months) during this time, only use the camper for day outings so then take a 5ltr bottle of water with us for tea making and flushing if necessary, so as to save hassle of refilling and draining down.

Although out most of the time there are a few weeks between the end of November and the beging on the new year when the ol girl is parked up..

There is an autodrain on the water heater, and we leave all the taps wide open

Apart from that nothing is done..
