My project 450 step has a switch that is pressed when step closes. Found that it is also used as courtesy light switch on cars, from a fiat uno I think. Part number is Intermotor 51840. Several are listed on ebay and they dont all look the same! Mine came without the rubber boot and fixing screw but used old ones off existing switch. The step out alarm now works so I wont have that pretty french lady chasing me again to tell me I am driving with step out.

Photo with switches shows new on left and old plus boot on right.
As mine has only lasted 2 years , but a lot of nights, a spare will now be ordered ready for use as soon as it plays up.
