Of your solar panel install :xeek:.

I am just wondering what the average size of solar panels most people have. I know there are some of us who have 300-600 watts on our vans. And some have only 1 x 100 Watt panel.

But what is the average? If you can post your figure here it will give me a rough sample to base my project on.

Thank you :)

PS: fridge project is on hold until we have hot weather again, I am planning the solar project ready for the summer so I don't run out of the correct conditions again.

PPS: I am working my nuts off on my day job to earn enough money so I can have next week off. This will then be spent making and editing videos so you can see what I am up to.

Fitted 4x80w to my last van.
Current van has 1x100w at the minute, but the plan was to see how that worked out before making too many changes.
I believe the controller will manage another 200w, so they will be fitted by spring.

I don't really want to say at the moment, because previous projects have dragged on for so long that they seem like vapour ware now :(

Needless to say, it is being designed by a motorhomer for motorhomers. I am designing it for my own use, but will open source all the software and hardware so anyone with a soldering iron can replicate it.

I have put the fridge project to one side until we get warmer weather. I am just planning the big project at the moment.

At the moment am running 2X100 watt into 330 amps of battery bank. Have not done enough touring with this van to tell if that is enough but in the past I have ran 300 watts into 450 amps of battery and could wild camp indefinitely with a small vertical axis wind turbine as back up.
