Help please, a friend has an Epson stylus office BX300F all in one fax, scan, copy and printer. He has given up on it and I said I would have a look at it.
The problem being it will only print every other line of a document when it prints or copies.
If anyone can help its funsters !
Thank you
Eileen

A Woosh bang
Could be a corrupt driver..

Suggest un installing the driver and downloading the latest from Epson

Is there a way of printing a test page from the printer itself (there's usually some kind of button-pushing combination)? That would indicate whether it's a printer issue or a driver issue as Jim suggests.

From the BX300F user guide:

"Running a printer operation check

If you are unable to determine the source of the problem, run a printer operation check to help you determine whether the problem comes from the printer or your computer.
To run a printer operation check, follow these steps.

1) Make sure both the printer and computer are turned off.

2) Disconnect the cable from the interface connector of the printer.

3) Make sure that A4 size paper is loaded in the sheet feeder.

4) Press the On button to turn on the printer.

5) Press the Menu button to enter the copy settings menu.

6) Press the Up or Down button to select Maintenance, then press the OK button.

Press the Up or Down button to select Nozzle Check, then press the [Color] button.

A test page prints showing a nozzle check pattern. If the pattern has gaps, you need to clean the print head."

Unfortunately my copy-and-paste has lost the images for the up/down/color buttons, but hopefully you can tell which is which. The user guide I found on the Epson site and can be downloaded from Link Removed.

As Jim said, drivers would be my first port of call.

many many years! since I was a kid
dirty print heads give this result, and in some cases can be sorted by using print head cleaning fluid in a set of clean empty cartridges. buy a set of cheap refillable cartridges for about £5 on ebay and a bottle of cartridge flush. install the cartridges and then run the head cleaning program several times. leave it a few hours then run again. once done reinstall ink cartridges and print a test page

if this fails, then at least its cost very little. Loads of these get binned for this very reason

I have a 305 model.

Only months old and the print quality is rubbish.

Looks like a double hit. Then today some lines were missing parts of the type.

Had to turn off and back on to get the type right, but still double print.
