I have one of these and used this firm for the purchase of my RV......I trust them and they seem to be on the right track.

    I believe it is competitive...

Can anyone help with their views on my card please?

Hi John, I have no knowledge of your card, but we have used our Caxton card in France, Italy and Belgium without any problems.

    Hi John
I have a pre pay card from thomson travel agents (supported by master card) the only problem that I have had with it is trying to pay on a French toll road (1 out of 4 did not accept) and a 24h fuel pump in France (kiosk at same store fuel station did)

No experience of your card (or in fact any other pre-payment cards) but my "hero" Martin Lewis on his Moneysaving Expert website has a wealth of knowledge and advice about such matters. I would recommend you look at this part of his website.

    Travelex Cash Passport

We have had the Travelex Cash Pasport for about 3 years now. Got it from our local Thomas Cook branch when booking a holiday. Ours is in Euro's as we need it for using in Europe.

Have used it in France, Italy, Teneriffe and Holland. saves us carrying lots of Cash.

We load it up as and when required by transferring from our UK bank account. Charges are kept to a minimum.

One big advantage is you can load up the card when you are feeling flush and have some spare cash available and it sits there waiting to be used.

Would not leave home without it now.

Beats them on exchange rate today.

We did have too many refusals across Europe this year. But on the whole it worked.

I have the new Nationwide credit card which is suposed to be free of charges when purchasing goods but what is the cheapest way of getting cash from the hole in the wall nowadays.

John, I have a CaxtonFX card and as others have said it is spot on.

It has worked everywhere so far (I have not used on tolls as told it will not accept), easily to load and good exchange rate. No charges whatsoever. :thumb:

We found out the toll bit the hard way.

It never failed in an ATM.

Just make sure you have a backup card.

And since it's just the same as buying notes ( but safer to carry ) choosing when to top it up is the same agonising decision.

I suppose these pre-paid cards are a good replacement for Travellers cheques-but we never used them either.
Cash and debit cards is the way do it,with credit cards as a backup.

A large number of the transactions abroad are fuel and tolls. I could work out that tolls did not work but the fuel gotcha is nasty.
