I'm trying to find out how to post videos on a thread ..say from you tube or straight off the phone..
I've had a quick look and read that you should copy say the you tube link while it's playing etc
Will that display the video or just the link if you know what I mean..
I seem to remember trying to post one off my phone and it just came up as a still.. ie it wouldn't play..
And finally is there anywhere you can go and try this without having to post on current threads.. did we not have a practice thread so to speak at one time..
    Andy.

Upload your video to Youtube or similar

Then view the video and copy the URL ( the address at the top of your browser ) and paste it directly in your post.

    For instance....

Now that is being shown just by copy and pasting the link as described

    The link looks like this..

    https://www.

    youtube.com/watch?v=LjKBAlbhwtw

I have split it up ( https://www. then the second bit ) to show you, otherwise it would just show the video again and not the link ! :)

It's also possible to show videos on Twitter and Facebook but youtube is generally more commonly used here.

    Here you go (y)

If ever you have a question about how to use the forum have a look at the FAQ section first. Chances are you'll find it there. But you have to find the FAQ section first :) That you will find at the bottom right of every page (y)

Youtube works when posted direct in to the post. However most other video you find on the web will work too, but not directly. Rather than post it directly into the thread, you use the little icon above the reply area that resembles two pieces of movie film. Clicking that presents you with a box to post the URL (y)

In facebook. While a video is playing, right click it. Choose "Show Video URL" Copy it.

Back here, click on that little 35mm film icon and paste it in and click "Embed"

I'm not sure what you are using but if it is an Android or iOS device have a look at Viva Video, which is a free app. It does put a logo in the bottom right of the screen but it makes uploading to YouTube very easy and you can easily trim your video. I've used it a couple of times to upload dashcam videos, such as this one:

Yes it was a Samsung galaxy s5 and a new Mac book air which I haven't got the hang of yet..
As I said I think that problem is sorted as I managed to upload a small video off the phone so hopefully I'll be able to play with that and after going through the teplies I'll try posting on forum to see if it works.... I'll try that app you mentioned as well.
    Thanks again
    Andy

I think the second one has more drama but don't bother clearing a space on the mantlepiece for an Oscar this year. :)

But good news you've cracked it, so to speak. :)
