Really looking forward to visiting the dockyard now that the submarine is completed and the Mary Rose exhibition is total ready. Staying at kingfisher caravan park at Stokes bay then taking the Gosport ferry across to Portsmouth, got three days to explore the dockyard. Any body got any tips on where to get good fish and chips in Gosport, Portsmouth or Lee on Solent.... My favourite meal ..

Sorry can't help with the chippy but would be interested to see what you think of the Kingfisher site.......we were torn last week between that one & Dibles in Warsash
We opted for Dibles which was a bit like being in a car park - however the area is lovely as are the wardens. Lots of things within walking distance.
We would like to go back again.....Les wants to visit the hovercraft museum at Lee in Solent but we're not sure if it's open (it looked open when we passed it):)

Hi Debs, I have been to kingfisher caravan park several times over past few years as its convenient for Portsmouth etc. The site is ok,nothing special but in good position, always clean and looked after ,nice clubhouse serving food and drinks ,only drawback they don't take debit cards in clubhouse ,cash only and if you use the cash machine in there you will pay for the privilege of getting your own money out.

Rock and Sole, along the common, used to the tourist information office, either walk along the front past funfair or edge of Southsea Common and cut in near bowling club, Nr D day museum :) Should be a able to google them :)
Used to work in the dockyard, not been back since Mary Rose Museum finished, Couple of good pubs just outside, good food :) on the Hard :)

Was a newbie, now a Middie.
Twice we went to see HMS Warrior, and twice it turned out to be 'SHUT'. The Artillery Museum on the outskirts is really worth a visit. It's located in one of the Palmerston 'Folly' Forts. (y)
