Normally set off a 8pm after home from work and sorted stuff out so make it to kelpies, tomorrow setting off at 4pm so got a few extra hours driving.
Will have a search on map and see what I can find.

don't know that one, so feedback if used would be good

but also sharing it with @Neilfg Neil Gow have you heard of the tree named after you ? (y)

this one is good though, but only done a daytime stop and used the restaurant, not sure if you would get there in time for a meal and a stop over, I would think they would let you stay if the place has been used to eat, plenty of parking space (y)

You can park in the car park under the bridge and to the right. It's an overnight car park. (y)

You are supposedly not allowed to sleep in the vehicle but a blind eye is turned.

Think it will be my namesake the fiddler and songwriter, my fame has not spread that far (or anywhere) yet :)

Taste Perthshire are fine about stopping overnight even if you don't buy anything (but we always do). Can get a bit noisy from the A9. They ask you to use the overflow car park (on the right in David's picture). We use it pretty much every time on our way south and again on our way home.

You can stay at Loch of the Lowes run by the Scottish Wildlife Trust. It is essential that you phone in advance and ask for permission to stay over and there is a collection box for donations. Without permission in advance you are likely to be turned away. It's a lovely spot with plenty of opportunity to watch birds and water fowl from their hides.

depending on where you are heading and what you want out of the stop, this is a favourite of mine on our way north / north west

a good bit further and very remote, but that is why we like it :)(y)

Namesake in sound, if not quite spelling, despite what Google Maps says.
Couple of versions of what is the earlier Niel Gow's possibly best known tune - Niel Gow's Lament on the Death of his Second Wife.

Appropriate for all too many people this week, sadly.

I will have the pleasure of listening to Bruce MacGregor & the rest of Blazin' Fiddles play live two weeks today.

True, first generation English and sadly no musical ability at all even appreciation has been doubted at times.

Blazin Fiddles, a great band that I have seen several times and always look forward to the next visit.
Interesting story about the death of his second wife - it was his fiddle that he accidentally broke.
