Has anyone else ever noticed this?

On a Motorway/Dual Carriageway I usually set the Cruise Control to 60mph.

When catching up with a slower car and pull out to overtake as soon as I get level, the person (usually a 50+ year old male) speeds up.

It's soooooooo annoying, but more annoying when I slot back in behind them and then they slow down again...... Grrrrrrrr!

    Grrr.

I know what you mean. I usually get level to find them chattering away on the phone or worse - texting.

There was one instance where we couldn't work out what the young woman was doing, before my passenger realised she was applying lipstick. :Eek!:

I find if I set Cruise to 55mph, most things overtake me  but I'm happy knowing I'm saving fuel (possibly) ok I may arrive half an hour later, but what the heck.

it is even worse with a trailer

It is even worse when you have a trailer behind you (45' total length).. you are on cruise control lane one on a motorway and you need to pull in to lag two and cars will not let you out.. in the end you have to force your way out. I also find if I am passing a lorry I have on occasions nearly had them in the side of the trailer as they pull out hard once you have passed them not thinking you may be hailing a long trailer.

I do find though lorry drivers do often flash me in when I have passed. I of course oblige and will flash a lorry in when he has cleared me if he is overtaking me.

As I am only allow 55 mph only on a motorway and I find that is a good cruise speed and fuel at it's best, but that does not stop lorries or other over taking me.

On single carriage ways I do the legal 50mph.

On Motorways, I tuck in behind a lorry and just sit there until a faster lorry overtakes. I then follow that lorry......

Since using this method my mpg on long runs has vastly improved. Am happy with the pennies in my pocket...

I do feel a bit sad though when a lorry I have been following for 2 hours pulls off though. Like losing an old friend :Rofl1:

I get quite stressed actually after a while when we are in the slipstream of a lorry. Yes I know it saves diesel but my sanity is beyond price. :Rofl1:
