Well, today was the day,
And in memory of my great running friend whom before his illfated trip to Greece, was instrumental in getting me to have a crack at this, he was even going to come along.

I took on the Leadenboots Challenge.
Not to take away anything from my good running mate Gerry but just so happened that these races were the same day.

The leadenboots challenge is an ultra marathon registering a minimum of 26.3 miles but with a slight difference, 5800ft of climb and off road trail type through the stunning scenery of the Peak district. A self navigation route with checkpoints and an umbeliveable profile. Only about 35-40% was runnable due to the terrain, the extent of the hills (should of taken climbing gear).

But, I done it. 3 more experienced off road runners came with me due to the complexity of the challenge and the obvious concern being so close to our friend going missing.

I had a mamouth time, in stunning scenery, I completed it finishing half way in the field in 7hrs 40 mins 30% did not complete due to the nature of the challenge. My friends ran with me all the way and comented on how tough they were finding it, even though one had done the Marathon de sabs and two of them had done the Everest marathon.!!!

so here's a few photos, gotta get a race report up for the papers and club now so could be a late night.
Sleep well..

I know I will :Eeek:

Well if you get new legs, could I have first dibs on your old ones, except they must come inclusive of feet. I'm having so much trouble this weather with mine throbbing I'd put up with your legs for the sake of better feet. And they've got to be fitter than mine ever were! LOL

Makes me knacked just reading about it Paul.

Well done you!
