It would be great to have a list of Pet Friendly or Pet Welcoming sites all in one place

How about listing some here?

A truly dog friendly site is Ross Park at Ipplepen between Totnes and Newton Abbott Devon, not to far from Torquay and Paignton this site is amazing you get your own hedged pitch, there is a Resturaunt/take way on site. It has a large field that you can let your pooch run free and for the muddy days it has a proper doggie shower with bench and water proofs (for the owner) plus it's own nature reserve that you can walk around (dog on lead) Needless to say it has won the David Bellamy award year after year.

What an excellant idea for a thread - Sorry I can't add any right now but hopefully will be able to in the future.

Over time this could be the best and most useful thread on MH Fun::bigsmile:

As of April 2008
Ineke has found three camping sites in France, we have not been there but maybe we will visit one of them in the coming four weeks we will be in France.

Looking at their Web Pages it sounds good, dogs can even run free on the campingsite (if they behave of course)

Camping La Soupèze
CynoCamp Terre Neuve

When using the above links you will enter a Dutch page, but all three have an English version if you click on the button with the English flag

If we have visited one during our trip i will certainly share our findings here

Have a good summer

what's classified as a dog friendly site?

for us it's one that lets dogs on but dosent charge for them (really hate having to pay extra when the dog can't use any of the facilities, the onesthat charge almost as much as a child get funny when i ask them how often they go round picking up the dog poo... for 4 quid a night i expect them to do that at least :ROFLMAO:

also a dog friendly site has to have a dog walk, or a good area they can excersise off lead close by,
a dog shower is a luxuary, more common abroad, but slowly apeering over here, very handy on a wet day when the dog's been playing in the mud.

and a perfect dog friendly site is one that has a rule 'dogs under controll' meaning if they can behave off lead, they can be off lead, and if they are the type that get tied up ouside a van and left to bark at anything that goes near them, that's not accepted (yet most think as it's on it's lead, it's ok)

as most have said, CC and C&CC sites allow dogs with no charge, tho some wardens dont like the idea of letting dogs on their site, but have to accept it as it isnt their site or rules,

the forrest holiday sites used to be great, but for some reason since C&CC took over they charge a quid a night for a dog,

of the sites we stayed at recently, the one at walton on thames (C&CC) was brilliant for a dog, an excelent long dog walk over a bridge, through tree's, area to run free, nice walking paths,
that's a no bog block site, which we prefer, so is cheap to stay on, toffee loved it.
