I brought one from DVLA £250 inc. transfer fee, as we were buying an A Class thought it would a bit more timeless as we thought we might keep this van a bit longer, may not be the case now with Euro might be worth changing.:)

M100 LHB, wife's name is Mi (Mijhan) & LHB are my initials.

We've got 'personalised' plates on all our vehicles, except latest purchase, but sold another car with the special plate on it. Those of you who know me know that the campervan number plate suits it ;) . Iain was on page 26 of The Sun on Thursday with camper and plate as part of a feature. Maybe I shouldn't admit to that!

It's what suits you when Ed reached 60 I had not got a clue what to get him so got him a plate with his name EDY on it, then when we got the Hymer I just could not remember the number so simplified it by getting HYM for the van now both the prefixes are the same, so simple to remember both just cost a few hundred pounds.

We have M600 HYM. On our Hymer (obviously), it makes us smile so to us it's worth it for that.

I used to have an inverted snobbery about vanity plates, but I see so many of them in the school car park that I've got used to it. Not that I take the Moho there, it's full of women who can't park their Aston Martins :imoutahere:

Hi. Can understand getting rid of a "Personal" plate,i had a Hot Hatch,(Mid life crisis ?) ended XXX... The wife knew where i had been and was, before i got home,so that one went.
Third M/Home with P/P, This one first letter R for "Ford"... NO>>>>> DOH !!! Renault LOL,three chosen numbers and our initials. Just as a passing comment, sold the 4x4 back to supplying dealer at less than a year old with 6000 miles on the clock, as it would cost an arm and a leg to import it into Portugal,he asked if i was taking the "P/Plate off of it". No says i,you are welcome to it,(I had been given a very fair price). He then says good,.... THEY SELL BETTER WITH A PRIVATE PLATE....
Tea Bag.
PS. Some one out there, could be driving around in a Renault Timberland Endeavour number

FR09 ***
While in France,a local clocked it,gave me the thumbs up and a big smile.... Me racist..... NEVER !!!
PPS Edit.... 6000 MILES..... Red Biddy...To MUCH..... YES!!!

I'm not a fan of personalised plates, but each to their own and if folks want to spend their hard earned on them, that's their business.

However, it does wind me up when I keep getting asked if the plate on my current car is personalised - it ends with my initials. I even had someone point out to me that as it starts with "VE", is that for "V Eight" - the car is a V8 - and it ends my initials, it must be personalised. It isn't, it's pure coincidence!

A motorbike I had years ago was "A454 JOY" - I tried selling the plate from that for 3 years, never had any takers!

If anyone is prepared to pay out good money for a number plate so be it.
I was once told that if you have a number plate that stands out,you better drive very carefully as it will always leave you open to retribution should you really upset someone.

Our last accountants all had cars with plates containing the initials of their firm.

I always thought that W4N KER would have been the appropriate plate for our particular accountant.

I have SM10NZE ( Simonize ? ) if anyone is interested ?
Just as a point of useless info John .... As a kid back in the late '50s I used to know Mr Simmons, of Simonize fame, and played with his six children on a caravan site at Selsey. He used to tow his caravan with a huge Austin Princess Limo.

I know you really wanted to know that!

Can't see the point in paying for something you get for free. When I worked at the VRO I always noticed how it was generally the people with personalised number plates that always had a problem!

Fully personalised number plates can be had for free by following the advice given here: http://www.gov.uk/change-name-deed-poll

Just change your name to your car registration. No more 5 instead of S, no more 3 instead of E, no more 7 instead of whatever 7 is supposed to represent. Simple.

In Germany, your first letter/s are a given depending on where you are registered. For €15 you can then pay for the following two letters, so for me having lived in Berlin a B OB registration was cheap and easy!! The problem is when you move, if you buy a car in a different Lankreis you have to register with their allocated letters. Didn't fancy Nurmburg, N OB didn't appeal the same:D:D:D

£ 36, cheap as chips .(y)
Reminds me of my middle brother in law. He never liked his given name so changed
it . Then when he had an upmarket hair dressing salon for 20 odd years he changed it to another single name.
When he moved on from that he changed it again.

He came here some years back & I took him to hire a car. He had a passport in one name, driving licence in another , credit cards in a third.o_O I thought I'd be arrested ,let alone him :LOL:but no one batted an eyelid.

Mrs Gibbon bought me S111RJE to put on a kit car ( my initials)but I never finished the car so it eventually ended up on our daily drive.
I really don't care about people knowing the age of our vehicles. I've known too many keep up with the jones's types over the years & they're welcome to it.

Well that`s our 13th year & still loving it.
COM 1 C Jimmy Tarbuck.. this one works but I can`t understand the plates were it nearly looks like something if you space it right (which won`t pass an MOT) so you need the correct set of plates for the test and hope Mr plod doesn`t pull you over when you have the dodgy ones on.

I always wanted VFR 750 R for my bike.
