On our return from Greece this year we planned to spend a few days on this fabulous lake, like last year we assumed we would be able to find a pitch but exactly like last year the sites we tried on the eastern shore were full with a number of other folk all driving from site to site and getting the same negative news from various reception staff as us.
I was just about to give up and drive round to the western side where there are many more sites when we fired up the phone and a site called park4night came up with an address right on the lake just 1 km south of Garda.

15 euro for 24 hours and all services on site with the exception of showers, however this problem was solved by going to the campsite next door (which had no space for us) and using their facilities.LOL

Its not perfect as its a sloping tarmac car park and I guess in the high season you might be restricted to one or two days only, but in mid September there appeared to be no checks, so there we were, sited within feet of the lake, a ten minute walk into Garda on a footpath, or a bike ride on a path back to Bardolino. You wouldn't want to spend a long time there, there seemed to be restrictions on awnings and setting up chairs and tables, but it suited us just fine in the circumstances.
