Best fish I ever ate was a cod cooked within a hour of it being caught

I still remember it 45 years later (y)

DH went fishing in Iceland a couple of years back. They cooked the fish within minutes of it being caught. He said it was wonderful. I like most fish (shell fish doesn't like me) but really love fresh mackerel..... I grew up in Hartlepool and when the mackerel were running the fishermen would give it away to anyone who wanted a fish or two.

They won't give a fish away now. Not even a mackerel. So few boats and poor catches.
Nobody hangs around the fish quay these days except the monkey!

They will in Shetland, we were parked up near a small marina and a fisherman just back in shouted across to me "do you like mackerel?". A few minutes later we were cleaning half dozen fish!
