I got an Oyster 1 dish But never seen a manual. Does anyone know what it says about putting the dish up in wind ?
The Scottish wind is doing its best to blow me in the loch but tonight looks like I'm a little more sheltered than last night when I dare not use it or I'd be watching it sail over the bay.
Could do with some TV entertainment tonight but not at the expense of a destroyed dish. Maybe I better find something else to do ?

Never deploy mine in high winds, just in case. It also plays up with the reception if it's high winds and rocks the van too :)

Try good old Google :)

As I thought, a night on fun then. At least the mifi kindly provided by @DanielFord is managing to find me a 3g signal even though I'm about as remote as it's possible to get cheers again Daniel.

It will not help you tonight, but we have a dome and on my trip up there last January the wind even broke the picture up on that, I cant imagine an unprotected one being much good if breezy up there

and if the wind drops it will probably snow looking at the forecast, that stopped my picture as well, when falling mainly as it cant really settle on the dome itself

enjoy the view and hopefully the sunset :)(y)

Had an Oyster 85cm of our last van, you soon know when it's too windy, reception breaks up and you can hear the dish banging about.

I've just read the ten haft oyster manual ( sad burger that I am) and all it says is " retract the antenna during periods of strong winds or storms"

That's helpful..........not:rolleyes:
