Is dish searching or just going up and down?

Up on to the roof and disconnect the coax cable
off the roof, plug in and turn on the sat receiver
Take a meter up on the roof.
CAREFULLY** check end of coax to see if you have about 15 volts coming out.
If no, make up a short lead with a plug on one end and tother end striped off and in pig tails.
Plug short lead in to the place on the controller the dish normally goes to and check again
If voltage there then duff bit of coax from controller to dish

As a matter of interest, have you tried the sky box back indoors ?
If it has stopped working there now, then you have a short circuit in the coax somewhere and it has blown the small fuse in the sky box and proly the one in your other receiver too !

    **
Be very careful. If you short out the coax it will blow a fuse as above

    That all sounds very complicated.

The dish goes up and goes to its last position ok , but that's it .

I haven't tried the box indoors , it worked , as did the 12v one I am trying.

as for checking the voltage.. that's above my pay grade. LOL

The box may well work, but there is a small separate fuse inside that protects the gubbins if you get a short circuit on the coax
Shame you are a bit of a trot away.. Would take about 10 minutes to check it all out for you..
If you fancy a drive though, you are most welcome :)

Appreciate that , I will have a look when I get home and try not to blow myself up.

I may borrow a new box from my dad , and see if it sees that one , or blows it up. LOL
