We went to the River Festival in Stratford today and the carpark we used seemed to be ideal for staying overnight in the 'van - unless we have read the instructions wrongly.

Can anyone confirm that campervans can stay for 72 hours for £20? It's in a lovely location close to the town and the river.

Hi Janine, I am not sure if we are talking about the same place, but a couple of Funsters spent the night at the Leisure Centre car park before the Stratford Show a few weeks ago. There was a parking charge for overnighting.

Thanks Brisey, it's a different carpark but with the same charging structure. Might be worth a try :)

Me and the missus, studied the notices carefully, and there is one going in, mentioning 'refer to the conditions', and also 'permitted class of vehicle'. It said the charge and 72 hours but not many people park their car for that long.
Not very clear but there was a Hymer parked up overnight there on our first walk into town, and there was an open fire going in the same area, there may have been flaring BBQ but there was no trace when we went back that way later.

I have just lifted this line from the "Off-street Parking Contraventions (within Council Car Parks)" section of the SoA website. It says a contravention will result in a penalty notice.

Camping or remaining in occupation overnight of a caravan or caravanette

Isnt this a bit like the Devon ones; where they dont actually enforce the 'no overnighting' unless the 'travellers' move in.

It's the Leisure Centre car park as @Brisey said. See https://www.stratford.gov.uk/transport/car-parks-stratford.cfm

The park I was referring to was the one at the back of the bowling green and right along the back of the big park on the river opposite the theatre.

That's the prison minefield. (y) Just stick a cushion up the back of your jumper, and limp around saying "A Hymer, a Hymer, my old Swift for a Hymer".......The locals will love you. (y)

That sounds like the one we were on today - it has a Butterfly Farm near the entrance to it.

Perhaps they breed them to use as drones to photograph terrorist strongholds?

    That's the one.
Whilst looking at google maps to check, I went on to see the pictures of the Racecourse, and lo what is there but the motorhome rally but the show bit is a trifle small probably taken during set up. I notice they are all kept on the other side of the fence where they should be , away from sensible folk. early in the week??????? Go on all look-see, now to prove me wrong date on the map was 2015 so that must be brizse 's tent at the fence gap.
