Just received from friend on holiday in Cornwall.
Stark contrast to France where we are made welcome!

Car park just north of Widemouth Bay at Lower Longbeak. About 3 miles south of Bude.

This seems to suggest that there is no good reason for the restriction. Have you asked Cornwall Council why it has been put in place?

Much of the Bude area is like that now. They had an issue with summer residents which were staying long term for the surf and summer period. I recall it go a little 'busy' where tourists couldn't access the tourist spots, so they had a clamp-down.

There are places on the main road, such as the Layby Alan mentioned, which is popular for overnighting, few hundred yards up the road is Atlantic which is a CL and is very cheap for the area at around £6 a night with plenty of facilities for everyone. Sloped, but well worth it.

There are other places dotted about, but these will be a bit further away from the Bude area.
