We have just booked the tunnel for a week in France for half term (end of October) and need an overnight stay on a site in England for the Friday night before we travel on Saturday. We usually stay at CC site Black Horse Farm in Folkestone but thought we would find a cheaper one - penny pinching !!! Black Horse Farm is about 15 minutes from the tunnel which is ideal. Any suggestions for other sites that are near the tunnel please?

Why not get the train on the Friday night and pull into an aire for free.
Depending which way you are going I know but the aire at Cité Europe is tidy and only a few mins from when you disembark.

If you are members of CC then I recommend .......

Ninn Lodge Farm, Ninn Lane, Great Chart, Ashford, Kent, TN23 3DA
01233 620908

We use this regularly, very handy for M20 J9 and about 15 minutes to the tunnel. There is a handy 24hr Tesco on M20 J10 on way to or from tunnel

Like another reply above:

If you only have a week, are looking to save some dosh and able to check into a UK "campsite" on Friday evening, the take a Friday evening train instead and overnight in Calais ready for an early start Saturday morning.

Cite Europe is ideal - they don't come cheaper.

Our option every time and if the OP's location is correct we travel a good deal further (230 miles) than him to the channel and still enjoy a same day crossing. We cross somewhere between 2:00pm & 4:00pm and head for an Aire in what ever direction we intend to travel. It makes the next day into a 'proper' holiday day with a nice fresh start as well.

Just turn up at the ferry, you'll probably be stuck in the queue all night anyway! ;)
