I've just phoned Holidaysafe to get our travel/health insurance for this year and have been told that next year when I'm 70 I will only be able to get insurance for 90 days. We'll be aiming to go to Italy next year and will need about 155 days.
What do other people do in this position (I have pre-existing medical conditions - none life threatening thank goodness!)
Any ideas please?

My annual travel insurance has this 90 day clause but we fly back home
just before that for a few days and fly back for another 90 days my insurance are happy with that and so are we.

Had the same problem. Originally on annual policy with LV but wanted over 100 days and husband over 70 and medical issues, they suggested husband flew home after 89 days. We didn't consider this an option for us. Eventually took out a single trip policy going through C& C club for 160 days. Seems to suit our needs.

Gets more expensive as you get older and collect more conditions. In Spain for 6 months and just have EHIC, only 6 weeks left before we head home.

Insureandgo wouldn't give us long term once I reached 66. We looked around and it was possible with other companies but mega expensive. Since then we've just used our EHIC card.

We are asked "have you spent more than 6 months in the UK in the last 12 months"
if less than 6 months they will not insure us again
