How many of you ( excluding full timers) use the oven regularly? Do you think they are worth the weight and the space they take up?

I know we are way in the minority but yeah one of our main things when looking for mh was a full size oven and use it all the time.

I use the oven in the MH all the time. Quite often take meals that I've made during the week and heat them in the oven. Even thinking of doing an all day slow cooked pork shoulder, will keep the van warm too!

We use ours - to store the saucepans in!
The flames shoot up the back and scorch anything we try to cook - either there's something missing or it's badly designed. It's a Maxol(?)

No! we can manage without an Oven, we have loads of one pot recipes,, we have a cadac, as well as an Aerosol type stove with a large pan, honestly can't really see the need for an oven, as we are! Sunday Roast etc etc etc we can do without!
However! maybe some Fulltimers will see the need! Each to their own!

Ours has an oven fitted & we've used it once (for something we'd normally grill, but the grill flame wasn't wide enough)

Same here on both points.

But the van does also have a microwave fitted.

As for the microwave - hardly use it, could do without that. We once had one blow up in a caravan so took it out and put a door on the space to make another cupboard.

We use ours a lot. We take part-bake in case we can't get fresh bread. We cooked Christmas dinner in it when it was -7C outside. Its also been used outside the house when cooking roasties for 70+ old folks at their Christmas party. Discounted many a motorhome because no oven.

If you'd asked the question about the microwave, that is a complete waste. Probably used twice in 7 years as we are rarely on hook-up.

We are thinking if we are holidaying rather than 'living' in it then we don't really need an oven or a microwave. Hot plates and grill would do, plus BBQ and maybe a wok. Want a fridge though.....for the wine you understand!

We use the oven ALL the time. That's cos we cook normal meals like we do at home. Not that every meal needs the oven, at home or away, but when it does it does. Just treat the MoHo much like our house really.

Except we do have a microwave at home but don't in the van as we are so rarely on EHU anyway and though we had a fitted one in the Bessacar, in 3 years it (le micro-onde) was used only twice !

Got to have the oven. Can do without a microwave, although we currently have one.

Tradition is to have an M&S Meal for two plus wine on first night. Bung in the oven, slurp the wine, all is well with the world!

Banned from this thread 'cos we are in the van all the time but we do use the oven. Less as time goes on, but we do use it for cooking as well as storage!
As some have said - it does provide heat on a cold evening when cooking.
No microwave and can't prepare before we "leave home" as we are in it.

Not banned.....just assumed a fulltimer would need an oven. :)

Oven only used for storage, and I have had the van for 18 months and never used the oven.. Prefer the microwave and ramoska plus a slow cooker. However I am normally on EHU and am a solo traveller.

Amazed at the replys to this thread, when it's come up before it's always been non users who were the majority, but when we had our old van we realy missed a full oven so when looking for another it was near the top of our wants and certainly never regretted it.
