I'm an oldbie MH number 10
Hi

I have Microsoft Outlook 2007 on my PC....

Ive just installed it after a PC breakdown..

Anyhow.,,this is the first time ive used MO and wondered, in simple step by step instructions...

does anyone know how to set up a folder so when emails from Fun come, they go straight in to a designated folder and do not interfere with my important work emails and emails from my Nigerian friends whom need my bank account details to send me money?

TIA

Hmm, I've not set any message rules up myself, but it looks like you can define rules for messages from certain sources etc in the "message rules" button in the Folders tab.

It says though that it only works for pop accounts and not http accounts like windows live...

I'm sure someone will be along with a more useful answer soon, but have a go and see if it'll work for you:thumb:

Hi..
I presume you'retalking about outlook
Not outlook express
.. If so

Create a new folder by right clicking on personal folders (above the inbox) on the left
Once you have that folder you can either create a "new rule" from the toolbar at the top of outlook.. (under tools I think)
Or right click on an email from and select create rule..

Use the wizard.. Its very simple

Its a long time since I used it, and I don't have it on my computer, but I seem to remember that you can create "rules" within OE. In one of the menus there will be, create the rules such as "If message from xxxxx then transfer to folder yyyy".

Sorry thats not much use, but Im sure if you poke around the menus in OE you'll find it

I'm a newbie.
What I do with OE6 is:

1) Highlight the message you wish to file.
2) Go to "Message" at the very top of page & click.
3) Scroll down to "Create rule from message" & click.
4) A new window opens "Create new message rule".
5) The first rule is automatically filled in for you.
6) To complete the second rule click on "Move to specified file".
7) Click on "Specified" which will be in blue.
8) Scroll to the top and click on "Local Files".
9) Click on "New File".
10) Type name of new file.
11) Click on Accept.
12) A message will appear saying "Rule has been created successfully", but the message will still be in the In Tray.
13) Right click on highlighted message.
14) Right click on "Move to File ..."
15) All future incoming mails should redirect to the new file.

Sorry but not sure of the exact terminology as mine is in Spanish ... so it's just a rough translation. :thumb:

Sounds complicated and long winded but it's not!

RIGHT CLICK on an email from say FUN, choose RULES, the CREATE RULE

the put a tick in send to folder and click on SELECT FOLDER and choose the destination

click through the dialogue boxes and select run rule now to move any matching mails in your inbox to the folder. then all the emails from fun that get downloaded go straight to your selected folder:thumb:
