This is our trip so far in france for 2 weeks.

left UK 26th May on eurotunnel, booked for 11.20pm but arrived early so got on 8.20pm, stayed on Cite Europe car park for the night, and guess what woke up and Andyman was in the same car park.

next day (27th) just a little drive to Berck sur mer, found the little aire (5 euros pn) near the dunes, stayed 2 nights, windy and cold, little bit of sun.

decided to travel to the Loire, for some sun, found the aire at Sully sur Loire, behind chateau, very beautiful, free aire, free water and empty point, stayed 2 nights got some sun but also some heavy rain, went on a bike ride nice and flat.

Tuesday drove along the Loire and ended up at Briare, free parking at Canal not far from Loire river and town centre, flot bleu accross bridge to another aire for water and empty point.

that's it so far, will try to add some piccies

Some more photo's of our travel's
at Briar on the Loire, we biked for a few miles with Toby in his box, we were looking for Gien, but biked the wrong way.
We then went to another beautiful chateau well worth a visit if on the Loire it is at Chambord, we parked in the car park for coaches and campers, quite a large car park and 6 euros for the day (think you could pay for 2 days so maybe overnight may be allowed) there was a car rally meet of old cars whilst we were there.

After Chambourd we were told of a town called Turquant, this is where houses are built into caves, there is a very nice aire here, it takes about 20 campers, got a,little park for kids, you need a token from a local shop for water, but you can empty your loo for free. there is some nice grass areas to sit on and benches to use, but the aire is free.
a couple more piccies

From turquant we travelled along the Loire to St Jean de Monts on the coast (below St nazaire) think Neilmac told us all about free car park right next to beach, well the car park we found was on the beach called "daviere plage" lots of campers which stay overnight and it's free, we stayed there sat night, it rained in the night, so next morning we drove into St jean de monts and you can park the far end of the town for free, so we biked in and also stayed there the night. sorry no piccies.

next day we travelled to Vitre nice oldy worldy town, cobbled streets, some piccies attached

will add more tomorrow

Hi Terry
Just had a look in my aires book and there is a free aire (if it's still there, my book is 2009) it is next to s sport complex, the co-ordinates are N 48 deg6'33 W 1 deg 11'52, looks like free water and empty point. we just visited Vitre as was passing.

Link RemovedOur next stop was the Aire at Honfluer, 9 euros a night most have ehu and takes over 100 campers. The town is a beautiful place, all oldy worldy houses and lovely sea front cafes, I had moules & frites and rob had fish & chips (not too expensive either) we have found that eating out is quite expensive so we bought in supermarkets and cooked ourselves or had salads with baguettes of course!!
here are a few piccies of Honfleur:

our next stop was to be St Valery sur Somme, a small town witha little harbour, we sat and bought some rites and baguette and ate them next to the harbour after biking into town, the aire is about 10 to 15 mins walk and cost 8 euros a night, think it has just been re-done as nice stone pitches and quite large ones, plenty of room, only one picture of this:

after St Valery we stayed on an aire at Le Crotoy close to the vets that niggle told us about, right near the beach could'nt wish to be any closer, think it was 5 euros a night, watched the kite surfers, the wind was just right for them, next morning went to vets to get Toby sorted only 5 miles away, first time we have took a dog abroad and we found this no problem, Toby loved it and all the fresh air made him very sleepy, vet cost us 24 euros as we took our own frontline and wormer tablet.

On leaving the vet we decided to go to our usual aire at Le Touquet, normally you cannot get at the bottom end of the site as this is always full, but we could have had a choice of where to park, but it was quite windy so we parked up on the road leading into the aire as you have a grassed area so you can put your chairs out, we took Toby onto the beach and he had a dip in the sea, he loved it (couple of pictures)

The last morning (friday 10th June) we set of for the tunnel and our journey home, can't wait till next time, we may go to holland in sept.

Hi Ken & Lynda

Had a lovely time in france thanks.
I sent you a message on 22/5/ with all details of the vet, have a look at your in box, we went to St Valery sur Somme and went into the touris info office and asked if hey would book the appointment for me for the next morning, vet was only about 6 miles from St Valery, we then went to an aire at Le Crotoy which is only a few miles from vet and stayed that night, right next to beach and kite surfers, will speak at the weekend
