Hi all, a few weeks ago I said we were selling the hpose and taking off in the van, that has all happened and we are thoroughly enjoying ourselves.
We started off at a small rally, aimed at new fulltimers meeting old hands and learning a bit, in Norfolk, after that we went up to
Tetny Lock then
Market Raisen area then
Bridlington then
York then
Hawes, Yorkshire then
Lake District then
Derbyshire still here.
Next stop Silverstone then a visit to his parents then
Wales to see my mum and get all our winter clothing.
We are really enjoying this life, long may it last!!!!!:thumb:

Good for you, it certainly looks like you've been busy. Are you intending to go south to Spain for the winter or are you going to see how you cope in UK. A few years ago I changed jobs and was unable to sell my house and I lived in my van from September through to December on a farm near Wisbech in the heart of the fens. It was very cold and despite having the 2kw heater on all night some mornings I woke to ice on the inside of the windows as well as outside.

A bit of go in you. Just the right people to make a go of it.

Let's see how you cope with your first winter.

The Spanish Job might help.

Really nice to hear things are going well, its always good to hear when a plan comes together, please keep us updated on your progress, see your are in a Hymer 584 how is that working out, ((we love ours) . It would be a shame to move the post as its nice for all us that dream about it on and off, to get a insight of it for real and maybe those thinking will get that extra bit of confidence to live their dream.

Have no fear, it wouldn't disappear, would still come on the front page when updated .. and it would be easier to find by others looking for full timing threads ..

The 584 is working out really well-we love it but we did have the table chopped and it has given us a lot more free space but you stilll get a 'bar' at the side for cups of tea etc. it also makes it easier when dressing and using the bed!:thumb:

Saturday, it's raining here in Castleton, Derbys, but quite bright, and the clouds are breaking up, still got the washing up to do!!
Been doing loads of walking-my legs ache. We've been up on 'tops' and down all the caves.
We are at present towing a 8x5 enclosed trailer with a scooter, clothes and bits we felt we couldn't do without, we've learnt we can do without them and the extra clothes. The scoot is fun and good transport when you're out 'in the sticks' but we think with the possibility of days of rain and cold weather ahead of us we are looking at getting a small car instead, on an A frame.
Any suggestions? So far it seems to be a Peugeot 107.:Eeek:

Think ahead - it seems they are not welcomed in mainland EU - legal or not, who knows, but do you want to argue with an armed Spanish cop.

I can't imagine anyone fulltiming and not doing a lot of it in mainland EU.

In which case a Smart on trailer is a popular choice.

:thumb:Hi Manda, don't know about towing but I have had a Peugeot 107 for three years and not an ounce of trouble with it. Ideal for shopping and running around and if you drive carefully loads more miles per gallon than the book says.

Hi Manda we are planning on full timing and i laughed, when you said you were going to pick up your winter clothing as that is what we intend to do(store our seasonal clothes at the father in laws)
I was not aware that their are full timing meets and we would love to go to some.I wonder do these happen a lot?At the moment we have a Hymer 544 which we are using to go away in and get used to.We have thouroughly enjoyed being in her but know we need a motorhome with rear bed and large garage,(particularly for the pushbikes) a separate shower and two bench seats so we can both relax by stretching out.I saw a nice Frankia with this setup on e-bay recently, but look mainly at the Hymers.
We are going to install the following:
Onboard generator
electronic levelling kit
sog toilet
plenty of battery power
solar panneling
strike back alarm
anybody else think of any other must haves?

This sounds very much like our wish list, but would also include:
Air Con for when in EU
Outside shower for dogs
Outside Gas Point for BBQ

not heard of the Frankia must Google that one!

Good luck Manda, we will be doing the same in 4 years ish...
