Day 3 and a new location which was unplanned but what a corker of a sight, stunning. Kilbroney forest park near Rostrevor near Newry. :thumb:

Almost have the place to ourselves, toilets and shower block absolutely immaculate, some great walking and cycling. Photos 2 & 3 some interesting dappled light during our afternoon walk and the last photo through the windscreen at 19.00hrs tonight. ::bigsmile:::bigsmile:::bigsmile:

Headed West today and found a superb CL near Balcoo, this sort of site is the only reason we renew our Caravan Club membership. The photo's don't do it justice, its so scenic.

£6 per night £9 if you want electrickery :thumb:

Made it over the border today, phone now on O2 ir so international roaming applies :Eeek: Diesel on the other hand is 15 to 18p per litre cheaper topped up today 1.42 euro per litre :thumb:

Staying at a rather nice family run site at Belleek Park, Faranoo, Ballina, Co Mayo, great location and free wifi in the reception area. Weather a bit cool and showery this evening so no photo's.

Recommended to do the Mayo coast so will try that tomorrow ::bigsmile:

Its certainly a beautiful area no wonder they call it the emerald isle, plants, trees etc are a lot further advanced than at home everything is in leaf or flowering.

Drove the so called "Wild Atlantic Way" yesterday in the sunshine (and a few sudden showers) what a wonderful drive, scenery is stunning and so varied we really enjoyed the experience. ::bigsmile:::bigsmile:::bigsmile:

Overnight at Sandyhills Caravan park, Keel, full on facilities all spotlessly clean but as seems the norm in Southern Island showers are to pay for at 1 euro. Fast wifi at 1 euro for 24 hours is a big plus. :thumb: Broken Link Removed

Nice place with a backdrop of awesome sea cliffs and a beach just a few yards away. Best of all aside from the 2 wardens we had the place to ourselves.

The wild Atlantic way stretches all down the west coast of Ireland and is very spectacular in places. Glad you are enjoying your stay and you might find that fuel gets even cheaper the further south you go.

And a few more taken yesterday early evening around the campsite and beach.

So impressed with the site and area we decided to have a rest day and catch up with laundry (superb facilities and reasonably priced) Also gave me a chance to set up the Multimo sat dish for a spot of TV. For anyone visiting Southern Ireland the frequency range of their freeview system is outside the range of most UK TV's. So bring plenty dvd's or whatever

Tonight we have company in the form of 4 Brit motorhomers (all touring before attending the MCC national up in the North) a small French camper and a German lady in a VW camper conversion.

And a couple more from today, awning and chairs out, washing hanging everywhere and most important for OH the Multimo dish set up so we've now got TV (and of course Eastenders for herself) :thumb:

It looks a brilliant place and we must go up to Mayo this year.

If you are going to Connemara we can highly recommend Actons Eco camping near Clifden - it is really fabulous and very relaxing although if you want set layout pitches you won't get them!

No wifi last night so no update. Weather yesterday morning was awful fog and a steady drizzle so we stayed on site till it cleared at 13.00hrs and continued South along the "Wild Atlantic Way" scenery is superb. We eventually ended up on at Shenahaven Caravan Park, nice site up on a hill near Clifden. Toilets etc spotless good size relatively level pitches cost 22 euro with ehu. As seems to be the norm here everything else is and extra ie showers, wifi additional people etc. :whatthe:

Continued South along the "W A W" stopping wherever to take in the sights, lay-bys are few and very far between here. Warm and sunny day for a change, eventually arrived at Sandhill Caravan site, Sandhill, Galway. Superb location on the shore of Galway Bay with superb views but at a price. The whole park has been extensively refurbished with all new level tarmac pitches. its not cheap though at 25 euro for the pitch with 2 adullts plus 5 for ehu. Everything else as seems to be the norm here in So Ireland is an extra, ie adults or kids, car, showers etc. Shower is 1 euro for 3 mins :Eeek:

7-8 Brit vans in, all festooned with MCC stickers so obviously going to the National at Belfast (as are we) plus a mix of continentals.

Nice site but as were attending the pre National near Londonderry Northwards tomorrow, which is a shame were both enjoying this part of Ireland and the folk are so friendly and accommodating. Although some of the roads are narrow the pace of life is very laid back and cars seem quite content to follow at a leisurely pace than frighten with risky overtaking. :thumb:

We are thinking of returning next year.

The old van in photo three not sure of nationality is badged Albatross on an old Merc, lovely old thing.

Northwards today for almost 100 miles arriving at Greenlands Caravan Site, Rosses Bay near Sligo. Nice location overlooking the bay but a bit busy lot of occupied touring caravan seasonal pitches and quite a few vans in. 25 euro for night with ehu and as usual everything else is an extra. :whatthe:

Wifi is free only in the computer room in reception. Nice sunny day though a tad breezy. Sat dish up and working so herself can watch Eastenders

Just love some of the wacky Irish roadsigns, we get a great deal of amusment trying to work out some of them and the road markings

We are pitched up in a levellish hard standing (tarmac) with good views out over the bay below and its only a short walk to miles of great beach.:thumb:
