So sorry to hear this Gail n family, it must be very distressing for you all, and just when things were settling down, we hope that everything is sorted real soon for you all

It is an idea to check if you are covered for a replacement vehicle on your insurance or theirs cover you for a replacement vehicle as you had plans for half term

I would have thought that as it was a clear case of the other driver being at fault Gail would definately be able to claim for loss of use and hire of replacement vehicle at no cost to her.

An excellent way of making the other party cough up and play ball when it could be costing in excess of £600 a week !!

Correct Peter. I've just checked a letter we got from Asda'a insurers which says (amongst other things) "If your vehicle is not roadworthy and you are hiring or need to hire a vehicle, please notify us of the same as soon as possible. As liability is not in dispute we can arrange for a comparable hire vehicle (based on engine size and body shape) to be provided to you, which would be paid for by Asda's insurance company".

hi sorry to hear about that its awful just before the season starts. my opinion is that it will be classed as a write off but dont dispair there are plenty of vans round the country up for sale and i know youll find the right one. i had a talbot and i couldnt get the parts i needed for it dispite people telling me that parts were in abundance so i sold it and bought a ducato best thing i ever did any way good luck and keep us all posted as to how you go on regards steve:thumb:

Many thanks for all your kind messages.

The independent assessor will inspect our motorhome tomorrow.

The good news we have had is that the company insuring the vehicle that hit ours has accepted full liability.

They have also said they will give us a hire vehicle for our holidays if it is repairable.

If it isnt repairable they will ensure the settlement is carried out swiftly

(presumably to avoid the extra holiday costs).

Will keep you all updated

That is brilliant news I'm sure if you are reasonable with them they will be reasonable with you. There have been incidents in the past(I'm sure you won't be one of these) that claimants have 'loaded' the claim.
Good luck with the assessor.

So sorry Gail - much sympathy

Hope it gets sorted out soon and you get a good year's vanning one way or the other. I lost half the summer when my first van was stolen and most of last summer waiting on the late delivery of my new van and then repairing it when it broke down. Hopefully you will be off and away soon! :thumb:

Really sorry to hear this. I suppose the only positives are no one was injured and the driver owned up.
But how on earth did he miss seeing a huge white vehicle??? Makes you wonder about his driving skills......
