I have tried all of the caravan salvage places I can find with no luck. I wouldn’t go back to a blown air system now after having the wet heating. This is a very un-common problem we have had with our system, as Graham Cutmore has said he has only ever seen two boilers have this issue in all his time as head of Alde technical services. This is the van we are going to keep for the foreseeable future and as we use it all year around it will be worth the investment long term.
Your last sentence says it all. Though the price may have come as a bit of a shock, the fact you use your van rather than it being an exhibition piece on the driveway makes it worth spending on.

As for choice of wet or blown it's each to their own, though I cannot fault good diesel fuelled blown air systems.

Not sure how mh boilers compare with durability and parts costs etc of a home boiler which is powering several plus radiators on a daily basis throughout cold periods, but when I had my boiler replaced with a new combi the plumber reckoned the old one (which wasn't a combi) was at least 25 years old. It was well knackered though and hopelessly inefficient.
