Anyone been to the campsite Oro Verde near Tabernas in Almeria Spain recently? It's near the film sets for the Spaghetti Westerns. Just wondering what it's like and the area too. Thanks.

Cowboy towns there are commercial ventures that may or may not have been used in western films.

Authentic locations can be found on the 'Ruta del Cine' in the Nijar/Albaricoques/San Jose area of the Cabo de Gata.

Spaghetti westerns, Lawrence of Arabia and others filmed in the area. The Alba in Albaricoques has posters and mementoes displayed and you get to watch a film while you eat the menu del dia or free tapas included with your drink.

Not over touristy though, still very popular with local workers at lunchtime.

Rumour has it that Clint Eastwood actually stayed there during filming.

http://www.losescullossanjose.com/ is a site that we have frequently used over the winter, the area is spectacular and many superb beaches and walks.....other sites are available
