I just love their TV prog, am shocked and surprised that the business folded in 2013. Old news that I'm sure many already knew. What a shame such a loss of specialised engineering ability.
Anyone have an update? Did they start again under another name?

Orange County Choppers Founder Puts Unit in Bankruptcy

TV star Paul Teutul Sr., founder of Orange County Choppers Holdings Inc., sought U.S. Bankruptcy Court protection for his merchandising unit with plans to liquidate its assets.

The family-run custom-built motorcycle company operated by Teutul and his son, Paul Jr., is based in Newburgh, New York. Its Hudson Valley Merchandising LLC listed $1.12 million in assets and $1.44 million in debts in papers filed yesterday in Poughkeepsie, New York. The parent company didn’t file.

Under Chapter 7 of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code a trustee will automatically be appointed to dismantle the company, sell its assets and distribute the proceeds to creditors.

The Teutuls’ “American Chopper” reality television show ended its decadelong run on the Discovery Channel in December. It featured the antics and interactions between father and son in their New York state motorcycle shop.

Actually if you read the history of the company the family fallouts were a regular occurrence and included lawsuits but agree on the presenting style Paul senior is actually Jr, his father still being alive at the time he took the title. The muscles come from illegal steroid use but what the hell. I appreciate the skill achieved in the end product and take the rest with a pinch of salt. They have built some amazing bikes. Goodness knows what they cost to buy.

As others have said, too much squit between the family members, probably all over hyped, plus I hate the style of bikes they made, justification enough?

Been a biker for 48 years ridden all over the world and cant say I will miss it either. More a crappy reality show than a bike show watched it a couple of times.
Can appreciate the work but all fantasy and built for so called celebrities mostly.
Not for me.

I like most types of bikes even if Iwould not buy one, they nearly all have something to recommend them, just not HD based choppers, also the style of the programme got up my nose, and I cannot see how most of the their bikes were very practical.

I guess the style of the program was down to the producers and the ego of Paul Senior, however I will miss it when the series ends. But then I tend to like those build type programs and have learnt a few techniques, tips over the years.

I watched it on occasion but came to the same conclusion as you Bill, you would watch them tack weld an exhaust up, then the next time you saw it, it had been transformed from a mutant lobster backed Frankenpipe to a beautiful smooth flowing chromed masterpiece which Fedex had just dropped off. They also had a propensity for opening out holes with a windy drill and a 1/2"bit, not forgetting the little "contractors wiggle" to make sure they'd get their 1/4" bolt to line up  I did like some of the jollies they went on mind.
