Does anyone have a scoobie doo how much a 4.5metre Omnistor 8000 weighs?
I want to lift it off its fixing rail and lay it on the roof while I do some work on the mountings

Probably not much help but we have a 4.5m Fiamma one that weight about 30kg.

I think yours is a bit heavier. Mid range length will put it low to mid 40s kg.

I should imagine its pretty heavy Andy, when we had one fitted to our PVC it took 2 guys to lift it an hold it in place - they were southerners though :LOL::LOL: You being from up t north may be ok lifting it on ya own :D

The weight is easy enough in itself but trying to relocate it on the fixing rail would be just too much.

According to my Hymer manual, the weight for optional equipment lists the 4 metre Omnistor awning as 40kg and the 5 metre as 50kg.

This would include the mounting rail too to subtract from payload.

I decided against press ganging my lad to take it off and instead opted for the necessary addition fixing right through the awning case/mounting rail/wall.
The point chosen to drill through is solid timber but the German dealer that fitted this in the first place couldn't be arsed and so the awning has always twisted away from the van body at the front and I'm sure this must increase the stress on the fixing further back.

    Awning is now rock solid.
