Hi all
Slightly strange request
The Pioneer Avic F-900BT Sat Nav system in my 2008 Merc MH has developed a problem and needs a firmware upgrade using an SD card. Unfortunately given the age of the unit it only recognises SD cards version 2 up to 8gb which I can't find anywhere on the net. The 8gb is a max (I only actually need around 1gb), it's the SD version that's critical.

Does anyone have one of these they can spare?

Thanks in advance

since 2006 ( I think ! )
I was unaware there is a difference between verions.. Only class types ?
Do you mean Class ?

Edit.. Just googled and canna find mention of version 2 anywhere..
As an aside, 2008 and before stuff, of which I do have quite a bit, is very happy running on cheapo 8gB cards from Tescos, Sainsburys et all
I suspect it is class that you need to get right as faster cards may not be recognised ( though baffled as to why not as the read speed is controlled by the unit not the card..
Class 2 cards are easy to get any way :)

John, the class relates to the speed, the version is the SD design spec versions which is up to version 5 now i think
This link explains https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Secure_Digital#Micro
If I'm reading it right then if it's version 2 than it can't read anything above this but it's worth a try.

Hi Andy,
PM me your address i will send you a couple to try :)

Hi Mark,
Many thanks for the offer of the SD cards
Just to check so you don't waste your time, are these 'version 2' cards (i.e probably several years old) rather than 'class 2' cards as I don't think they are the same thing (see my note to John above)

Just dug out a very old Sony camera.. It was bought about 2001 or so..
Stuck in an 8 gig card and it worked just fine..
have you actually tried a card in it at all ?

I've got a few 1Gb SD cards recovered from the obsolete digital cameras I sometimes buy in job lots.

Is there a way of working out the class/version via the Properties? The labels are telling me nothing.

John, to be honest no because I couldnt find an 8gb or less card anywhere, maybe I should try a bit harder?

Thanks guys, let me try a modern 8gb card to see if that works, if not I will take you up pn the offers

Best Andy
