Hi All,
on old carpet removal, the inner wheel arches (the ones inside the cab area) have the original rubbery liners which have thick, hard glue residue on them - I mean thick lines of it. Has anyone got any tips for removal of this?

I would like to remove as much as possible to enable a flat surface to mount the new carpet on.

I don't think it's the spray type glue, more like thick lines of a contact adhesive.

As always, any tips or recommendations gratefully received.

Regards,

Trikeman. :winky:

Might be worth a go

I have seen the sealant along roof joints removed at caravan repairers done with a piece of wire in a drill on slow it collected it on the wire it may work if it's similar.:thumb:

I fear a mechanical attack is going to be most successful
adhesive removal wheels are available for drill use
or as the surface is to be re carpeted paint damage should not be a problem
Id go for a Stanley Window Scraper. it hasnt got to be super smooth has it

Try the scraper along side a hot air gun if you can get your hands on one.A hair dryer may soften it up too.

Try paint thinners, turps, maybe wd40.
Try on a small area out of sight if pos, use with a small paint brush or piece of cloth, if it starts to soften old glue then try to peel off.
