We're off to France for 3 weeks in early September. Plan to end up in the Annecy area for a few days before heading back home. Any toll free (or virtually toll free) routes would be greatly appreciated. Enjoy pretty scenery/villages and views plus as much flat cycling as is available. Favourite aires also appreciated. Can anyone help with their favourite route?

Not sure of a good route as her indoors is the navigator. There are two very good Aires in Annecy and are close to the town centre.
Have a very enjoyable trip it is a beautiful place.

Another spoilt man obviously. I too am the navigator. Partner feels as he does most of the clever stuff (driving through towns and small lanes) that all he should have to do is point Buster's nose in the direction I suggest. (Buster is the name of our van by the way.)

This is a good plan, though not worth 3 weeks there.

    I'd certainly do Chamonix.

But routes, Google Maps and Viamichelan both will do the job and both can turn off tolls.

The obvious route it through Paris, so why not...

    Alternatively go via Rheims.

We visited Annecy a couple of years ago. Using Tom Tom we missed any toll roads. The whole lakeside is cycle friendly with miles of dedicated cycle tracks. So much so that pedestrians beware!!

Hi We stopped at Annecy 2 years ago, found one Aires to the right of the lake but full it Held about 12 , one other to the left turned left at a roundabout then on the left but that had been turned into a service point only, we stopped a little further down that road on a small private site very nice with a new small shower block, any idea where the other aire is . We usually select not to use toll motorways on Jane (our satnav) that way you usually travel through some beautiful towns and villages:Rofl1:
