Off EHU how long will battery last (1 Viewer)

Never been off EHU and only have 1x 110amp batt and no solar panels
So how long will the battery last to run TV and lights and pump etc
Will run fridge off gas as assume

Depends very much on the condition of the battery. TV will eat it. If lights are LED then no problem, I would expect a few days or more. Best of luck

got to disagree......

modern 15"/19" lcd tv will be around 20 to 25 watts.

110ah battery will power it for around 25 hours continuously

Sorry should have said TV new low wattage (can't remember what) but only on for 10mins morning and night to get the news
Lights not LED but again only on for about 30mins last thing at night
Pump used quite a bit for showers in morning etc
I assume if I'm driving once van batt fully charged it will then charge leasure battery

yes and no......

it will charge the leisure battery but very slowly.
once the engine battery is charged, which doesnt take long, the charge current is reduced to a bare minimum and could take several hundred miles to fully charge the leisure battery.

to rely on the alternator charge you would need a battery to battery chargerLink Removedwhich basically fools the alternator into providing full current all the time

Hi in our old van we didn't have solar panel and like you just had 1 x 110 batt and we lasted 10 days in the outer Hebrides without hook up. We did drive each day and due to long daylight we didn't use much.

We've been doing motorhome shows for a couple of years now. Each show is normally three days and nights off hook up, and we never had any problems lasting on one 110ah battery, with our daughter watching TV and using her DVD player. Only ran the battery down once, when it was freezing and we had the fan blower on for longer than the battery could copy with. About 20 mins idling the engine charged the battery enough to last till we went home (don't know if we had a battery to battery charger fitted as standard).

Always meant to get a second battery fitted, which is apparently not too difficult a job, and a cheaper option before adding a solar panel. Cheaper still is to replace halogen bulbs with LED.

As they say, IANAE, but HTH!

in the old van we found the flourescents were the worst for knbocking the battery out we had 2 x2 tubes and it could only do a few hours

We have done 4 nights without EHU ( no tv though ) no problems at all with a similar battery and not driving in between.

Modern TV - you are right but even at that level of use - it is realistically only a couple of evenings with use of lights etc, etc

I've got an Avtex and in the old van even with low power lighting, the battery (new) didn't last more than three days when the TV was used heavily. New van has solar so no issues

Wouldn't hurt to have a spare battery operated/rechargeable electric lamp with you. Can buy for around £20 or less. Good birthday/Christmas present?

Ever the optimists, we have a couple of Coleman LED lanterns. Pretty good and very useful for power cuts at home as well
