We are off tomorrow for three weeks heading for Alsace eventually via the Mosel, the Rhine and the Black Forrest. This our first time abroad with the motorhome although we have travelled extensively around Europe by car, hotel and gite. I sure hope it turns out good and Ann my wife enjoys it as she has been a somewhat reluctant traveller in the past (likes her comforts). Anyway I hope to keep a travelogue of our journey and I will try and keep up with the chat on here through the wi-fi (Mc Donalds)

Two words for you - Sankt Goar.

Great place on THE part of the Rhine. Esp if you like watching the world float by. And jump on a boat for 10 miles to Boppard or 100 miles.

Although we don't have a Motorhome yet, we have just come back from two weeks, travelling around the Black Forest, as far as Lake Constance and had a very nice time, the roads are terrific.

you are going to one of the prettiest area in europe IMHO there is so much to see you wont have enough time - as Brian says use the water buses that way you will see more and some of them are tourist orientated and have a commentary going on in English so you can learn some of the history of the area Rudesheim steeped in history - take in one or two of the vineyards as well . Enjoy - 3 weeks is not enough trust me

The natives are really friendly and love you to try to speak German - if you do they will respect you for it and help you all you want - plus its fun

On the Rhine we have stayed at Sankt Goarshausen - river bus to Koblenz and Rudesheim ( great for Christmas shops at any time of the year!)

On the Mosel - Bernkastel am Kues and Cochem are worth a visit.:thumb:

The German Job ?

Nah, too easy. It's only an hour from Rotterdam ( via Hull ).

It is quite big though and full of Umwelt Zones.
