This was another idea along the same lines. Designed to stop "coffee rings" appearing on tables. I think it has not had great commercial success...

In our first MH I sunk a ring magnet into a recess cut in the underside of the table. Above it was a table lamp with a similar magnet. It worked well & stayed put whilst travelling. It was made particularly worthwhile when son-in-law visited us on site and was eating a bowl of soup placed where the table lamp usually stood. Watching the spoon 'spring' up and splatter his face several times, and seeing the look of total confusion, was well worth the effort of fitting the magnet. Never mind the table lamp.Ok.. what about a small magnet in the bottom of the mug.. that way you can attach the 'coaster' as and when !

It's quite a useful thing really - when you're not catching drips from a mug, you can use it to feed the cat...yes.. it's called a saucer..
