We are off to the Picos at the end of the month, when are you going to be there?
I might be able to suggest something after.

Thanks Guys
we arrive 16th of aug, we do plan on doing a few days free camping, but our motorhome is quite small so we want at least a week on a site with the awning up.

Burgos Acsi campsite 'Fuentes Blancas', walking distance of the town (just follow the river) Great for dog walking as it is surrounded by a park. Markets on Saturday (food) and Sunday (clothes) next to the bullring. In March 2012 they were changing the road layout - it was tricky to enter but worth it.

Burgos itself is a lovely town old and new. Make for the old town and the brilliant Tapas Bars near the Cathedral (worth a visit, free) where Mr and Mrs El Cid are buried.

Highly recommended.

Playa La Franca between San Vicente de la Barquera and Llanes has two campsites and a hotel, we have stayed at 'Las Hortensias' which is nearer to the excellent beach, likely to be expensive and possibly full in August, we have only been in June.

Luarca is farther along the coast and we have stopped at two sites just outside the town, both clifftop and no beaches but the area is excellent. 'Los Cantiles' is nearer to the town and walkable. Can't remember the name of the other one but is on the other side of the town down a narrow road, still walkeable to the town but further, half an hour from memory. Again not been in August.

If you are limited for time I would recommend the Llanes area, there are other sites and the Picos are close by.
