Old Station Site, Masham. 2breweries.20 pubs, oodles of eating spots and home cooked food on site. Everything in 10 mins walk. Never stayed as too near but heard great reports. Can say that sunday lunch is mega.
    Cheers

Great site, stayed a few times, not sure about the 20 pubs, more like 3 but all good. You have to walk along a busy road with footpath so hold on to the little ones hand. Good food. Well recommended.

How about Whitby castle? A 25 minute walk along the cliff into town with plenty to do. Ask for a pitch away from the the cliff side as it was a bit too scarey for the missus!

So is it 3 pubs or 20 pubs. Answers on a postcard. Winner gets a list of the 20 pubs!

Can only be counted if within the city walls ( would like to underscore city and replace it with village but don't know how on an iPad! )

And if you get rid of the breweries then we are getting quite close to 3 :Rofl1:

    Talking about Fearby .......
The Black Swan at Fearby is a good pub with nice food and a nice camp site too. Hard standing and hook up if required.
You can walk through the fields to Masham to avoid the road ( advisable ).
The road isnt that busy , but it has no footpaths.
Drivers tend to speed and theres blind corners. High hedges :Eek!::Eeek:
We only walked the road way once. Won't do it again.

If you get rid of the Breweries it will be the pubs with no beer! I claim victory! If there were only 3 I would be able to have a pint in each of them and remember there were 3! Hence there must be lots.
    Simples.

also on a slope with, last time we were there, deeply rutted pitches.

one RV sized hard standing pitch at the top of the site but the entrance, narrow and between pub wall and outbuilding wall, isnt suitable for RV,s .

Try Thirsk racecourse site it is very close to the historic town center and plenty of bars and restaurants.

that would be the station inn at ribblehead.

first stayed there in 1976 in a tent....the year of the heatwave :thumb:

camping and stopover facilities available so what you saw probably werent wilding as such.

The pitches we were offered were level and flagged or hard standing. Though you had to drive up to them , so to speak , to make the level. The site itself is on a slope though. There were several motorhomes on it when we went. No big RV's though.
