not long enough
logic says north for UK, we have similar options on our dome, swapped to south around Bordeaux and got reception when north failed, we always leave on north in UK (y)

These days it will make no difference - as it all depends which frequency you are using for north or south....

Some frequencies are stronger than others, and so easier to lock onto.

For example UK beam frequencies are harder to lock onto in some areas of Spain, so you use an easier to receive frequency to help lock on.

On the old satellites the options were North (for the UK beam - channel like bbc itv etc), and South (for the easier to receive southern beam frequencies - for channels like most SKy channels).

The new satellites no longer have north or south - just UK or European.

But the same principle applies - if you cannot lock onto a signal on the UK beam, try and lock onto a signal on the European beam.

But again, it depends which frequencies have been allocated o which option on our system...
