    Hello techi folks
Have just won an auction on ebay for a non-working Kipor sine-wave digital 1000 for £51.00
The seller has said that it gets good compression but no spark. Does this sound fixable or have I wasted my money? We won't pick it up until next weekend as we are camping over near it's location then.

Haven't told Colin I have bought it yet!

you may have bought a pup

as far as i can work out all the electronics, including the ignition and throttle control, are controlled by the Inverter board.

if i'm correct then the inverter board may be buggered....replacement board approx £150 > £200 :Eeek:

Oh well, if that's the case it will go back on ebay as spares or repairs. Not sure we even need a generator really, just fancied a back up for when we don't have EHU, which seems to be more and more these days.

I have a kipor with a knackered inverter board, it still runs the engine fine. A replacement inverter board is more like £250 these days.

I would fix the board by swapping out the components

all the electronic components are soldered to a piece of fibre type board with copper circuits etched on then the whole lot is placed in an aluminium tray and then, what is basically araldite epoxy resin, is poured over the lot sealing the components for life.

what makes it really annoying is a tiny 15 pence resister could fail making the whole board useless.
