At last our Bee hotel has residents! Loads of solitary bees are exploring, laying eggs and sealing them in to hatch out, pupate and exit ! 12 months in total . :clap2::clap2::clap2:

Since 2009 with motorhomes several caravans then tents before that.
I've often thought about buying one of these. They have them in lidl now and again . Next time there in , I'm going to get one. I've got Buddleja and lavender In the back garden, and I know they love those.

Good luck, in my experience don't expect all of them to hatch out - disease and parasites will claim quite a few. This mean you will have to replace some of the straws/canes or drill them out. Great when it works though!

I applaud your environmentalism....Whist quivering in horror inside. ..... Not good with flying insects, even though I know bees are a good thing!

Brilliant idea! I should get around to having one too.
Our garden's only 10 years old, but we back onto open countryside (for the moment), so it gets all sorts of wildlife: newts, toads, dragonflies, butterflies, lots of cutter bees and the odd (not so cute) muntjac deer, after my blackberries.
Taking the kids to Oxburgh hall in a few weeks, to one of their 'Bee Weekends' - should be fun. :)
