We are going over to France, for a couple of weeks, on the 24th Aug. We have splashed out on the Newhaven to Dieppe crossing and are booked on the 10 am boat. So we are driving down on the 23rd and need some where to park on the Saturday night close to the port.
My first find was a pub ( on Keithheps Pubs Stopover database ) The Golden Galleon, or you can park at the port for £4,75 for 24Hrs where there is a cafe.
Has anybody used either of these or know of any other places so stop near the port?

On several occasions we have arrived at the port after 7pm and stayed overnight in the pick up/drop of parking outside the terminal building. It's right beside the embarkation lanes. Just wake up and get in the queue the next morning. There was no charge and officially allowed.

Tony_g as you have done this crossing several times are there any aires you could recommend about an hour away from Dieppe. We plan to go west along the coast and miss Rouen.

We have been across to Dieppe for different reasons, to tour the Normandy invasion beaches and Brittany or travel the western French route to Spain for a Morocco trip. So our overnight choices have varied.

Just to make time SW, Nonancourt (west of Evreux) is a favourite aire. The services are free, pleasantly located and the small town is worth a look round. if you are lucky, there is even free ehu but only one socket and you have to push the button every couple of hours if I recall correctly.

However, if you are planning to go along the coast, St Valery en Caux aire is dramatically positioned below the cliffs and handily central to the pleasant town. Further along, Fecamp has two areas of parking either side of a main road in the town centre. We favour the larger open area. The town is home to Benedictine. Or then there is St Romain de Colbosc down nearer to Le Havre. This is a nice aire, too.

However, don't disregard the possibilities of Dieppe itself. The town is definitely worth a short stop and there are two aires with plenty of capacity and easy walking access to the 'commerces'. All of these are in 'All the Aires' plus many others in the general area. Campingcar Infos is a good resource, too.
Have great trip (y)(y)(y)

TYPE OF AIRE: MUNICIPAL

PARKING: FREE/ 48HRS SERVICES: 2€ WATER or ELECTRIC

DIRECTIONS: From YVETOT take D131 SOUTH across SEINE & turn RIGHT to ST NICOLAS. In village takeD40 NORTH to SEINE & AIRE (next to river).

SITE DESCRIPTION The aire is in a very pleasant position on the banks of the river Seine, about 2kms north of the village of St Nicolas de Bliquetoit, next to a boat jetty & overlooking the Seine & the town of Caudebec-en-Caux on the opposite bank. There are 12 marked parking spaces on tarmac next to the river & surrounded by open farmland, no shade but a very quiet location. Euro-Relais service point with drainage grid.

REVIEW:

1) Lovely spot with fine 180 degree views over the Seine & the Pont de Brotonne, absolutely tranquil but a bit remote with no facilities nearby. Picnic area here & cars appear to also use the spaces but it empties out in the evening. Clean borne in good working order. Ideal for a quiet night, footpaths along the river in either direction for a pleasant walk. St Nic is 5 mins drive away & has a small café/ restaurant that sells the jetons for the borne.

2) "An aire next to the Seine where 12 camping-cars can stay free on spaces separated by hedges." RECOMMENDED CAMPING-CAR MAGAZINE
