Im a newbie
Hello to you all, been caravanning for over forty years, some in various clubs, mostly by ourselves, now due to a life changing event we are going to buy a motorhome, we are looking at a 10Mt Concorde 6000kg, now the small or should I say large problem is our second vehicle, which is a new Toyota Hilux, we took delivery in December after a six months wait, so we don't want to part with it, so we are going to put it on a trailer and tow it behind, this is going to be a long 16mts and heavy outfit 9500kg, not afraid of driving it but concerned about suitable sites, in the Uk and Europe, any guidance and tips from anyone who has a large outfit would be most appreciated. Thankyou

That will be interesting as a combination as at 16m you will exceed the maximum length surely. Or be very close to it. Plus have you checked the maximum train weight for the concorde?

Thanks for your replies, the Hilux has a hard top,+ fifth wheelers are built in America, its the same as their RVs, outdated looks and the ones I have seen poor workmanship, didn't know there was a max length, the only thing I have found out for a fact that it will be over my weight limit, so I take a test or drop down to 8200Kgs, so will probably go for the "Credo 890 M" with the bigger 205hp engine, hope to visit the factory in a few weeks its only a days drive from where we live in France.

Credo is on the 50C 5 tonne chassis, so narrower axles and watch your payload.

And if it's not a new Concorde with the ZF gearbox the Agile will have a lower towing limit, manual would be OK.

Thanks it will probably be a "Brain James" car transporter trailer, lower center of gravity, max gross 3500kg, the Hilux weights in at 2000kg trailer 700kg, max towing limit for the Concorde is 3500kg, it will have autobox and about 50ks worth of extras, as said when we go to the factory we will have better idea of the extra weights. While on the subject is it worth going for the air suspension? Thanks again

Ever since lighting was by Calor gas.
.......concerned about suitable sites, in the Uk and Europe

That is a very large rig which will limit your touring. You are probably already aware that not only will you have to phone a site to check they can accommodate you on a hard standing pitch and not damage the surrounding grass area whilst manoeuvring, but you'll also need to check the approach roads. I doubt that you could even use the Aires/Stellplatzen.
As a last resort (a very last resort) you could use lorry parks or arrange a police escort :-(
;)
Do you really need such a large set-up?

Edit, later...
Call me daft if you wish, but it just occurred to me that the most practical option would surely be to tow a caravan with the Hilux............?

Thanks Spriddler, was thinking about an escort but they are expensive, so will have DW walk in front with a red flag!(y). As said caravanned for over forty years, need a change, the idea is to spend about 7/8 months of the year in it, I cannot fly so there is still some bits of Europe to see, would like to get to the Arctic circle at some stage before old age gets me:(
