Hi everyone!

I am about to pick up my first ever 20ft 2 berth motorhome this week and am excited but terrified……
I want to create lasting memories for my daughter and do lots of weekend trips, rallies etc.
Met lots of helpful folks who have given me such valuable tips and am eager to take advice as there is so much to learn and take in.

Lisa xx

Hi Lisa
We introduced our daughter to camping in a 1974 VW campervan when she was 10months old and now 9 months later we are in a motorhome and love it.
I would suggest taking favourite toys and comforts and pre plan meals and everything else will fall into place.
I'm sure you'll get on just fine and if your stuck, there's always someone to ask on a site or on this forum.
Good luck with your new purchase - I hope it all goes smoothly fit you all.

No way is she too young.....we caravaned for several years with our two children. Started when the youngest was 9 months old. It was wonderful. They wake, you throw open the door and they play happily. There is no timetable laid down by anyone but yourself. The freedom is wonderful. The ability to allow your child a nap in her own bed if required. It's just blissful. Enjoy.

Hi. Took our first son camping when he was only 6 weeks old. You are never too young or too old. Met a couple in a caravan in Greece last year in their late 80's. Children don't remember the things you give them but the experiences you have with them. Have some great experiences with your daughter.

Since 2009 with motorhomes several caravans then tents before that.
I'm sure you'll find it a doddle in a Motorhome with a two year old. It's just like being at home. Beds hot cold water, toilet, kitchen etc.
Just try and tire your child out as much as possible through the day. Plenty fresh air , running about etc.
We have camped in tents with 3 children under the age of two.
Then moved on to a caravan, once we could afford to, once the eldest was around 5 and twins 3.
We didn't get the Motorhome till 7 years ago.
Our eldest by then was 13 and the twins were 11. They are all working and doing their own thing now. But still come now and again.
Our kids have loved their camping, caravaning, motorhoming holidays. They always slept so much better as toddlers when away at the weekends or holidays.
We all have lovely memories to treasure.
It's funny but they still hanker back to being wrapped up on a morning , cooking bacon eggs and beans on a camping stove . In a damp field , outside the tent, next to a stream with cold noses !
I remember them trying to crawl out of the tent flaps into the mud in their babygrows!
So much easier in the caravans than tents, so much easier in the Motorhome than caravans.
Welcome to MHF Lisa .
If I was you I'd make sure I joined the camping and caravaning club. We got away at least 2 weekends a month with them , on rallies. When the kids were little. Very cheap. Very basic , fields to play in , trees to climb , bushes to make dens in, streams to play in till your blue with cold. Other kids to mingle with.
And that was just me and Ralph !
You and your child will love your little home on wheels.

We preferred the caravan and camping club. But used to be members of both. We use the CL certified locations and used to go to plenty DA district association rallies.
Were in the motorcaravaning club as well now. That way we can make sure we can get out and about when ever , as the MCC usually have lots of rallies with hard standing too.
I'm sure you'll both enjoy your first rallies. Exciting times.
Best thing about rallies is you can do as much or as little as you want.
You can mingle and get involved in the activities , no doubt planned. Or do your own thing. No pressure.

Walking about a rally field , with a lovely little cherub such as yours, will bound to draw you into conversations. Don't worry.
It's a shame you don't live more northern. We're a lot friendlier up here ;)
You must try and get up here.
Bev.
