(y)Hello to everyone here! Didn't plan on buying a MH this year and had a target for the purchase next year. But as the winter months set in the prices drop and temptation becomes greater.
Now we have a CI Carioca 2001, 1.9TD with 59,000 miles on the clock. Steep learning curve begins as we haven't a clue. MOT in April first trip in May Beligum then France for a total of 10days and lots to be learn and maintained.
Thanks to the site progress has started and so have the costs and hunt for parts.
All advice so welcome to a MH virgin I sure mistakes will be made .

If its not been on the van in 15 years, you will need a new tyre too. plus check the dates on the tyres on the van too. due to the nature of motorhomes being fully loaded 24/7 and long periods not moving, the tyre walls deteriorate badly leading to blowouts. thats why it is recommended you change every 5 years

Hi DJ and a big :welcome3:.
I had a 2000 1.9 td and it never let me down.
Never got a spare with it and luckily never had a problem.
Did need a decat and K&N filter to give it a bit more oomph but was a great motor.

I've got the 02. I found that getting the spare from under is one big pain. Took mine out from under and it now resides in the locker under the fixed bed resting on a piece of old carpet.

Try your local scrap yard. My local one would give me a wheel with tyre for £15-20 depending on tread.

Forget about getting a spare, punctures are something that 'Recovery' sort out while you make a brew and relax
