Does anyone think there should be a section here for New Zealand and Australian Motorhome Travel/Holidays?

I guess you do.
But you are on your own I think.

There's lots of hype about the beauty of NZ, so what, there's lots of beauty and 2000 years of culture in Europe.

Getting out of Manchester

I used to live in North Manchester and was happy to trade the "2000 years of culture" for the wild outdoors and civil freedom of New Zealand.
Come on over and have a look for yourself.

Surely its all down to what floats your boat , Touring in Oz is a lot different to UK and most of Europe & near east. It might be helpful to anyone contemplating hiring in Oz or NZ . JMHO:Smile:

I worked in Christchurch once, no time for socialising, I was struck by the bigoted anti maurarii attitude of the ex-copper I was working with.

I was surprised I was in NZ at all, the place was just like Oxford.

My daughter worked for a while in Auckland, she did have time to "do it", she and her partner hired a Cessna and did the islands from top to bottom, lots of good photographs. It is without doubt a stunning place. So is Europe.

Now, what have you to compare with Lake Garda ? It's got scenery, it's got man enhancing the scenery with beautiful buildings that compliment nature. Man plus Nature, now that does it for me.

But you, trading north Manchester for NZ, can't fault it. I even suggested that my daughter and her, now, husband consider moving there. He has relatives there. It's got to be better than here. For family reasons they probably can't do this.

Now, what have you to compare with Lake Garda ?

The view from the $5NZ, empty wild campsite across the turquoise, crystal clear, glacier-fed waters of Lake Pukaki ...

to snow capped Mount Cooke....

with the grass above the shore line covered in millions of purple, pink, red, blue and cream lupins,...

and a distant vista of flocks of snowy white sheep being driven along the empty roads.
Unforgettable!::bigsmile:
It is worth putting lake Pukaki into google images ( I tried to put in a link but it didn't work)

We have cousins in South Island and my daughter has worked in the hospital at Timaru. We have toured North and South Island many times. Fabulous place to take a motor home.

Europe is beautiful, too, but too crowded in many places. As some one said whatever pleases you...
