Never leave a campsite with your clothes line tied to a lamp post.
This is a bit of a long shot but Mrs Tinca and I were musing over where we want to be on New Years Eve this year as we fancied a change from our usual get together's. We quite fancied popping off in the van to a country pub with a secure flat car park where we could camp overnight and then join the locals for a meal and general festivities followed by a good nights sleep in the van before returning home. The problem is we have not really been able to identify a pub within 20 or 30 miles from Torbay that fits the bill. Are there any like minded Funsters out there who are doing something similar and who can suggest a venue?

Hi one of the best places to visit on new years eve is Bideford loads of pubs & entertainment fireworks on the river & you can park overnight on Kingsly car park right on the river £5.00 or Exmouth sea front where they have a great new year also £5.00 for 24hrs happy travels Rod

Bear in mind New Year's Eve you can stay at Oxen Cove in Brixham & it's literally a 2 minute walk to the harbourside & also the Doulbe Locks pub in Exeter, hope you have a great Christmas & New Year.

Hi there Pete & Bex,
Yes we remember you both very well as we were camped on the marina on the Spanish side of the border. We are not going to Spain this winter but we will be back for winter 2017/8. Many thanks for suggesting Brixham as we were unaware that the Oxen Cove car park did not have one of the hated height restriction barriers. We have not made a final destination decision yet but already the Funsters have come up trumps with suggestions,

They have a camping area behind the pub with hook ups and showers etc....usually have a "special" night on NYE...been a few years since we've taken part but very much enjoyed it when we did.:)

Just up the road from Bideford you can park in the car park overlooking the sea in Appledore for a £5 a night and the best Fish n Chips in the south west at Sylvesters (nothing to do with me honestly!!)
