Driving your motorhome in France
INFORMATION ON DRIVING
RULES AND REGULATIONS
Speed Limits
For motorhomes with a gvw of less than 3500kg the speed limits are as for cars, ie 130kph on autoroutes (110kph in wet weather) and 110kph on dual carriageways and 90kph on other roads. Generally assume there is a 50kph speed limit in built-up areas unless indicated otherwise.

For motorhomes heavier than 3500kg there are new regulations for 2009. These are 110kph on autoroutes, 100kph on dual carriageways and 80kph on other roads.

If you have a motorhome and trailer that is over 3500kg in weight (even if the motorhome is less than 3500kg) the rules are even stricter: 90kph on autoroutes, 80kph on dual carriageways and 80kph on other roads.

France has a large number of both static and mobile speed cameras and the limits are strictly enforced. Even 1kph over the limit can result in a hefty on-the-spot fine.

Fluorescent Jackets
These must be carried in your vehicle and worn if any of you have to get out of the vehicle on to the road.

Documentation
You need to carry your driving licence, passport and ALL the vehicle documents. These must be in the vehicle at all times
(reprint from another motorhome site)
